The move to Sindelsdorf apparently also had an effect on Maria Franck as a further artistic liberation and calming of her private situation. After the productive summer of the previous year in Lenggries, she now found relatively steady and continuous work in Sindelsdorf, which became their full-time home from 1910 onwards.
With its bright intensification of natural colors, the painting Apple Basket in the Grass radiates the freshness and temperament of a picture created directly in front of the motif and, also with strong brushstrokes and a decisive use of colour, was probably created in the first two years in Sindelsdorf.
