Peter Halley’s retrospective at Mudam

Since March 31, 2023, the Mudam Luxembourg presents the exhibition „Peter Halley. Conduits: Paintings from the 1980s“, featuring thirty key works from the first decade of the Peter Halley’s career. In addition to paintings, previously unseen drawings, sketches and notes by the artist are also on view at this retrospective survey.

During the 1980s Peter Halley formed his distinctive vocabulary of geometric abstraction that he has used in his work for more than forty years. A pictorial system of ‘prisons’, ‘cells’ and ‘conduits’ enabled him to produce diagrammatic paintings representing social subjects, such as the impact and legacies of urbanisation and industrialisation within a post-industrial society marked by technological change.

The Peter Halley retrospective at Mudam is on view through October 15, 2023.
