Bernd Zimmer •The Secret Life of the Stars
To mark his 70th birthday, Galerie Thomas Modern dedicates a solo exhibition with new paintings to the former member of the artist group "Junge Wilde" Bernd Zimmer.
Next stop the Universe: Bernd Zimmer has been almost everywhere in the world. In the past 50 years he has travelled the world from north to south and from west to east, he has been to Russia and Iceland, Chile and Polynesia, the Dominican Republic as well as India, China and many other countries. And the artist has recorded these impressions in many of his works. In addition to abstract landscape paintings, Galerie Thomas Modern mainly shows paintings in which Zimmer expresses his interest and fascination for the universe: "The Secret Life of the Stars" is the title he has chosen for the exhibition.
Opening on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 7 pm. The artist will be present.
The introductory talk will be given by the art critic and art sociologist Prof. Dr. Walter Grasskamp, who held the chair of art history at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich for many years.
We also cordially invite you to a discussion between Bernd Zimmer and the astrophysicist Prof. Dr. Andreas Burkert on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, 7 p.m.
Prof. Dr. Andreas Burkert holds the chair of theoretical and numerical astrophysics at the LMU. His research focuses on the formation of galaxies, stars and star clusters. The eponym of the minor planet, 267003 Burkert, experiments with different forms of communication - for example "Art and Cosmos" - to better understand the fascinating connections and immense dimensions of the universe.
