In his work, Ugo Rondinone deals with the question of perception and space, but under the aspects of history, past and present as well as the relationship between nature and culture. His aim is to generate a poetic level of perception of these relationships and circumstances, and in this way to give the viewer a changed, expanded perspective on their self-perception.
“Blue Red Yellow Green Pink Mountain” is part of a group of works Rondinone has been developing since 2013, which consists of stele-like structures or “mountains” made from unprocessed, stacked and brightly colored boulders, the size of which are from only a few dozen centimeters high and man-high to monumental works measuring several meters in size.
