Baltasar Lobo draws on the treasury of ancient legends in his choice of motifs and pays particular homage to the myth of woman. His sculptures seek the absolute in the female nude, whose roundly modeled forms touch the border to abstraction. As a closed form and a figure at rest in itself, his works fit coherently into a cosmos of the spiritual. As pure as his works are, as concise their lines, the breath of life animates the surface of the bronze. In their mature beauty, the sculptures invite meditation and make contemplation a sensual as well as spiritual experience.
