Pia Fries at Kunsthaus Baselland

Kunsthaus Baselland is showing paintings and graphic art since the 1990s from February 3 to July 9, 2023.

After studying sculpture in Lucerne and painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, as a master student of Gerhard Richter, she took on professorships at the academies in Karlsruhe and Berlin. Since 2014 she is professor of painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich.

The Swiss artist is known for her colour abstraction as well as impasto gestural painting. She responds to figurative representations, integrates the silkscreen technique and paints mainly on wood and paper.
