The first comprehensive retrospective of Gabriele Münter's work in Austria opened Oct 20 at Vienna's Leopold Museum. The exhibition includes more than 130 works from public and private international collections - including oil paintings, prints, drawings, photographs as well as craft objects. The exhibition is grouped around twelve thematic islands, which highlight the stages of the Expressionist painter’s life, which often coincided with changes in her style or a lively interest in untried techniques and subjects.
Attentive viewers will recognize one or two works there that were on view in the Gabriele Münter exhibition at Galerie Thomas in 2017/2028, including "Allee vor Berg" from 1909. The exhibition runs through February 18, 2024.
