Renée Sintenis was a much honoured and distinguished Berlin sculptor, and, early on, one of the most successful female ones at that. Among other works, she created the Berlin Bear, which is also awarded to the winners of the international film festival in Berlin (Berlinale) as a small sculpture every year. Yet Sintenis' extensive oeuvre includes not only small-scale animal sculptures, but also female nudes, athletes, as well as drawn and sculpted portraits.
