Few pop images are more widely known than LOVE, with its letters stacked two to a line, the "o" tilted on its side. It has appeared worldwide in sculptures, prints and paintings. The U.S. Postal Service featured it on a stamp in 1973, selling 333 million of them. LOVE has become a pop icon and Indiana has reached immortal fame through it. If LOVE is an icon of the 20th century, with HOPE, Indiana has created an icon for the 21st century. He would like to see his latest work become a symbol of hope for Americans and the world, calling it "Love's close relative".
