Nathalie Djurberg: Deceiving Looks & Putting Down The Prey
within KINO DER KUNST

April 24 until 28, 2013

Nathalie Djurberg Putting Down The Prey, 2008 Animierte Knetfiguren, Videoinstallation, Musik von Hans Berg, 5.40 Minuten © Nathalie Djurberg; Zach Feuer, New York; Gio Marconi, Mailand; 2013

In her video installations, Nathalie Djurbeg breaks many taboos and the viewer dives into eerie scenarios uncovering the ambivalent abyss of human feelings and doings. The artist herself is responsible for everything: direction, camera, technical solutions, costumes, as well as design and production of the clay-figures which are then animated in the stop-motion technique. The electronic music plays an important role in Djurberg's films and is composed by her spouse Hans Berg.

Project Space I: Imi Knoebel - Entwürfe

September 14 until November 17, 2012

Imi Knoebel‘s ‘Drafts’ painted in acrylic on plastic sheet clearly shows the artist’s brush marks and indicate his interest in the principle questions of painting. Here, the attention centres on the significance of the paint as an important foundation of his work. While creating them, Imi Knoebel likes to leave his works hanging for long periods of time on a wall in his studio designated for this purpose, in order to experience the effect of the paint. The ‘Drafts’ serve as a basis for Knoebel’s pictures and are copied into them on a scale of 1:50. Each of the works shown in our gallery is created in an edition of 5 copies + 2 artist's proofs, and is thus unique.

Project Space II: Martin Spengler - "High Visuality"

September 14 until October 20, 2012

Martin Spengler, born in 1974, creates large-format picture reliefs that often extend well into the room and play with the actual reproduction of recognisable structures, such as meshes and ornaments, on the one hand, and with the total dissolution of the image on the other hand. He expresses the thought that is most important to him: “I’m concerned with structures that reflect a particular social occurrence or architectonic functions. Be it a Mexican wave or a motorway junction or a cathedral – the external structure leads me to contemplate what lies behind it.”
